For many elementary school boys, fall means not only that school is back in session, but also that it’s time to start working on their next Cub Scout rank badge. As these boys advance through the ranks, they receive new uniform insignia and new handbooks. The achievements and electives become more challenging. They learn more about self, family, community, and the great outdoors. They are given more responsibilities at camp and serve as role models to the younger scouts. From going to meetings and outings and updating their uniforms, to studying their handbooks and getting ready for camp and selling popcorn to raise funds, these boys are very hard-working young men.
As anyone who spends anytime with young boys can tell you, they need an outlet to release all that energy. And what better way to do it than ice cream, rope climbing, zip-lining, and bungee-jumping? So, the great staff of The Shake Shanty and The Adventure Zone in Baytowne Wharf recently treated Cub Scout Pack 540 to an afternoon of high adventure and ice cold treats as a reward for their valiant fundraising efforts. The Shake Shanty and The Adventure Zone are proud supporters of the Cub Scouts, and we appreciate seeing local businesses get involved in our South Walton community like this!
