Middle School Students to Help with Sea Oat Restoration

Over 900 students at local middle schools in Okaloosa and Walton counties will play a hands-on role in restoring coastal dune lake and barrier island ecosystems this April as part of the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance’s new Dunes In Schools program.

unnamed (2)In combination with monthly lessons about these rare and delicate environments, the students will plant over 1,100 sea oats to actively restore the coastal dune lakes along Scenic Highway 30A and various other locations along the Gulf of Mexico and Okaloosa Island.
