What could be more beautiful than a day spent at Grayton Beach? How about a day spent at Grayton Beach, while a rainbow-like parade of sailboats glide (and/or dash) by across the emerald waters? Originally created by locals Lynn Stone and Charlie Thornton, Sr., this spectator-friendly race combines 30A‘s love for the beach with the joy of sailing.
Originally, the race ran from the poor part of town (a.k.a., Grayton) to the “rich” side of South Walton, Seagrove. Hence the “Rags to Riches” name for the event.
Today, anyone who finds themselves here in South Walton considers themselves to be wealthy far beyond their means.
