30A.com passed 75,000 fans on its 30A Facebook page this week. The community page has become a popular place to share local event news, beach-related photos and videos, contests and more.
“Over 72% of all U.S. internet users are now on Facebook,” said 30A.com‘s Mike Ragsdale. “It’s become an essential means of daily communication, often as much or more so than the phone or email.”
In fact, Forrester Research recently found that 96% of all U.S. adults who use social networking sites are on Facebook. The second most popular social networking site, LinkedIn, reaches 28% of the U.S. adult online population, while Twitter has 24%. For younger adults, Facebook usage is even higher.
“81% of Gen Yers use Facebook every day, nearly twice the number who watch TV or read newspaper content,” reported Mashable, a social media and technology news site.
During one week in November alone, posts on the 30A Facebook page reached over 241,000 unique people.
“We really love our fans, and are so proud that we can help keep them in touch with this special part of the world,” said Ragsdale. “This is a very nice milestone to end the year.”
